This is a large, damaged section from an antique quilt which someone
has hemmed so it could be used 'shabby country style' as it is now, or
re-used in other craft items. Can be folded in such a way that less
damage is on show, to make a lovely display quilt over a quilt rack,
trunk etc.Age - Circa early 1900's. Where from - Canada. Hand Sewn - The patchwork has been hand sewn. Machine Sewn - The patchwork blocks have been machine set. Hand Quilted - Yes. Machine Hemmed - Yes. One of the long sides has been machine hemmed in a blanket stitch in a darker cotton thread. Materials Used - Faded indigo blue cottons and white cotton. Batting - Thin thickness, cotton batting. Backing Material - White cotton. Measurements - Approximately 79 inches by 49 inches. Fraying - Yes, there are approximately a dozen frayed blue patches. Loose Seams - Yes, several loose seams. Holes - Yes, where there is the above fraying and a few small holes in the white fabric.. Holes all the way through - Yes, a baked bean sized hole in the white cotton, please see photo. Stains - Yes, on the front is some very faint pink bleeding
which must have come from some other fabric, a couple of small brown
marks, a few pale marks, and approximately seven of the blue squares
have had bleach marks on them. The backing has a couple of small marks. Washed - By the previous owner. Notes - Postage on this item will be £5.00 (The second photo from last shows the quilt folded so less damage is shown).
