5055 'Eight Point Stars Quilt Top Section 1' £10.00
A section from an antique 'eight point stars' hand sewn quilt top.
This quilt top was made and stored away, the cottons are still have
that new 'crisp cotton feel'. A good sized piece that could be made
into a wall hanging, used in other craft items, or kept as an example
of American patchwork history.Age - Circa late 1800's. Where from - Virginia. Hand Sewn - Yes. Materials Used - A stunning black and white laurel leaf print in
the border, the print is so graphic and precise, and the patchwork
blocks are various cottons typical of this era, with a white calico
with a tiny red print. Measurements - Approximately 40 inches by 27 inches. Fraying - No. Holes - A couple of tiny holes. Stains - The unstable dyes used all those years ago have created
foxing of the pink fabric - you can see where the colour has bled into
the surrounding cottons. There are a few storage stains. Washed - No. Notes - The section does not spread completely flat, if this had been quilted, this
would have been taken up by the batting. Postage on this piece will be £2.00
