A cosy, very soft to the touch, Canadian quilt in calm colours, made
from pretty shirting and blouse fabrics. Needs some TLC as there are a
couple of holes on the backing. Age - Circa early 1900's. (The previous owner said she knew the
family who had owned the quilt before her, and they had said one of
their family had made it over 100 years ago). Where from - Ontario, Canada. Hand Sewn - Yes, the quilt is all hand sewn in lovely neat stitches. Hand Quilted - Yes, in a Baptist Fan pattern. Hand Hemmed - Yes. Materials Used - Very soft shirting and blouse cottons. Batting - Medium thickness, soft cotton batting. Backing Material - White cotton. Measurements - Approximately 85.5 inches by 66 inches. Fraying - One of the large patches has frayed through fabric
thinning, please see photos eight and nine, and there are some patches
where the dots have frayed away in the pattern, also shown in photos.
Some light fraying on the hemming. Holes - Yes, the backing looks like it was caught on something
as there are two largish holes and a few smaller holes. The large holes
need patching over to keep the quilt strong. Holes all the way through - No. Stains - Yes, please see photos as there are some large stains
on the backing. A few light marks on the front. The quilt had a long
soak in the bath in a Biotex solution, so although there are remaining
stains, it is clean! Washed - Yes.
