0651 'The Dandy Quilt Block' £95.00

A delightful, very sturdy quilt in strong condition, suitable for everyday use. Lovely colour combination.
Age - The previous owner bought this quilt from an antiques dealer near Lancaster, PA who said the quilt was early 20th century. The patchwork blocks appear to be from this era, but the blue blocks are very likely to be from more recent years and that the quilt has been put together using vintage patchwork blocks. So please only buy if you don't mind this!
Where from - Pennsylvania.
Hand/machine sewn - The patchwork is about half hand sewn and half machine sewn. All the blocks have been machine set into the blue fabric.
Hand Quilted - Yes, in very neat hand quilting.
Machine Hemmed - Yes.
Materials Used - The patchwork blocks are in cotton calicoes typical of the early 20th century. Two of the nine patch blocks are from the same material used in the large squares, it appears that the quilt maker made these two up to supplement the vintage blocks.
Batting - Thin thickness, cotton batting.
Backing Material - A red/white ? reproduction ditsy floral cotton print.
Measurements - Approximately 80 inches by 66 inches.
Fraying - No.

Washed - Yes.
Notes - Quilts such as these, that have been put together using vintage blocks give the appearance of a vintage quilt but have the benefit of being strong enough for everyday use.
