A lightweight quilt with a gorgeous selection of cottons - wedding
ring quilts were often made as part of a wedding trousseau and lots of care and
detailed sewing went into the making of this one.Age - Circa 1920's - 1930's. Where from - Texas. Hand Sewn - Yes, in tiny neat stitches. Hand Quilted - Yes, lovely hand quilting with flower shapes inside the wedding ring shapes. Hand Hemmed - Yes, a narrow lilac floral print has been hand hemmed. Materials Used - Mainly small scale floral prints in pastels
with a few stronger colours used as contrast, also stripes, dots. a
novelty print of children playing hide and seek - gorgeous selection! Batting - Thin thickness, cotton batting. Backing Material - White cotton. Measurements - Approximately 92 inches by 66 inches, measured into scalloped edges. Fraying - There are a couple of frayed patches in the area mentioned below, and a tiny amount on the hemming. Holes - There is a small area with 4 small holes - the quilt
must have got caught on something and snagged. These aren't immediately
obvious where it is a busy quilt. A tiny hole on the hem edge. Holes all the way through - Yes, shown in the photo of the backing, very small, about the size of a pea and could be darned over. Stains - A couple of very small marks. Washed - By the previous owner.
