A heavy, single sized quilt having a thick cotton batting, with an interesting array of shirting fabrics. Age - Circa early 1900's Where from - New York state. Machine Sewn - Yes. Hand Quilted - not quilted, but hand 'tied' with cotton threads. Machine Hemmed - Yes. Materials Used - Mainly shirting fabrics with lots of checks, plaids, dots and calico prints. Batting - Thick cotton batting which has separated over much of the quilt, bunching up and feeling lumpy. Backing Material - A striped, brushed cotton flannel which has some 'piling' of the cotton. Measurements - Approximately 79 inches by 68 inches. Fraying - No. Loose Seams - A couple of loose seams. Holes - No. Stains - Yes, there are some large pale brown water marks on the
edges of the front of the quilt and on the backing has areas of 'age
browning'. Some smaller marks as well. Washed - Yes. Notes - The price reflects the conditon of the batting and the staining.
