textiles you will find this antique small quilt very interesting.
Likely to be a buggy/carraige quilt, it has been pieced together with
wool clothing scraps and a thick, soft textured, home woven wool cloth.
A great piece of American patchwork history!Age - Circa early 1900's. Where from - Indiana. Hand Sewn - Yes. Hand Quilted - Green embroidery thread in simple quilting lines, and there is herringbone stitching along the patch seams. Hand Hemmed - Yes, in a nice plain red cotton binding. Materials Used - The patchwork consists of some wool cloth
clothing segments and the large brown patches appear to be homespun and
home woven wool cloth which is thick and warm to the touch. Batting - No batting, just the two wool layers sewn together. Backing Material - A home woven wool, soft grey with blue
stripes, this may have been part of a larger blanket. Likely to have
been homespun wool. Measurements - Approximately 44 inches by 32 inches. Fraying - No. Holes - A couple of very small holes in thick wool cloth, one on
the front pea sized, and one split in the backing three quarters of an
