A fresh colour scheme of blue and white in this quilt, the
previous owner has said it was made by a Mennonite lady. Although the
quilt is in strong condition it has lots of stains and some shifting of
the batting, so it could be used in other craft items, but if you don't
mind the marks it's still a very practical bed cover.Age - Circa 1950's. Where from - Mount Joy, Pennsylvania. Hand Sewn - The patchwork blocks are hand sewn. Machine Sewn - Machine sewing in the setting of the blocks. Hand Quilted - Yes. Machine Hemmed - Yes, in a contrasting teal shade of blue cotton. Materials Used - Plain bright white, bright sky blue and a blue cotton print. Batting - Thin thickness, cotton batting. The batting has
'thinned' along the foldline down the centre of the length of the quilt
so it doesn't lie completely smooth. Some of the quilting stitches have
come loose along this area as well. Backing Material - White cotton. Measurements - Approximately 79 inches by 69 inches. Fraying - No. Holes - No. Stains - Yes, out of the 20 star blocks there are 8 that have
some yellowish staining, plus some smaller stains elsewhere, and
lighter markings on the blue sashing cotton. The backing also has some
large yellowish marks as well. Please have a good look at the photos to
see if this quilt would be suitable for your requirements. Washed - Yes. Notes - Looks lovely folded so the marks don't show!
