0611 'Lover's Knot' £95.00

This quilt is in a difficult pattern (known under various names such as Lover's Knot, Hearts and Gizzards, Wheel of Fortune) to piece together due to all the curved seams and would have only been undertaken by an experienced quilter. The colours complement each other beautifully, quite an unusual colour combination and a great combination for using the quilt in rooms other than the bedroom. The previous owner used it as a wall hanging which would give the room a very cosy feel. Needs some TLC as there are quite a few loose seams.
Age - Circa 1940's.
Where from - Indiana.
Hand Sewn - Yes, tiny neat hand piecing of the patchwork.
Hand Quilted - Yes.
Hand and machine hemmed.
Materials Used - A plain soft peach and green cottons.
Batting - Thin thickness, cotton batting.
Backing Material - Off white cotton.
Measurements - Approximately 88 inches by 71 inches.
Fraying - The hems are lightly frayed, you can see this in the photo third from end.
Loose Seams - Yes, there are several loose seams which will need sewing down.
Holes - The front has one area near the edge with about five tiny holes and one pea sized, and one about the size of 10p piece on the backing cloth.
Holes all the way through - Yes, the area of holes mentioned above go all the way through.
Stains - Yes, please see photos. There are several small fairly dark marks on the front, and several areas of markings on the backing. Where the quilt was hung on a wall it has uneven fading, one side is lighter than the other, you can see the difference in shade in the fourth photo from the end, where the quilt is folded on the bed.
Washed - Yes.
Notes - The hanging sleeve is shown in the photos, on it is marked the makers name. This is in two sections and would be fairly simple to sew back on if the quilt was to be used as a wall hanging again. The best portrayal of the quilt's colours are in photo four, the three close up ones which look very bright/pinky are not true to life.
