Wonderful quilt in rich, vibrant shades to really brighten your room. Beautifully made, with lovely fabrics and quilting.
Age - Circa 1930's
Where from - Idaho - nicknamed Gem County!
Hand Sewn - Yes, an amazing amount of neat hand sewing went into the making of this quilt.
Hand Quilted - Yes, each patch has been outline quilted.
Hand Hemmed - Yes, a thin red edging which really complements the colours in the quilt.
Number of Patches - Over 2,000 hand sewn octagons, each hand quilted!
Materials Used - all the colours of the rainbow in plain and printed colours. Each 'flower' middle is plain yellow representing the sun, then each flower has printed cottons and a different plain cotton around those. There are two shades of plain green cotton which weave around the flowers, representing the garden paths.
Batting - Thin thickness, cotton batting.
Backing Material - Off white cotton.
Measurements - Approximately 75 inches by 71 inches.
Fraying - No.
Holes all the way through - Yes, on the green edge there is a very small hole, about the size of a pea.
Stains - There are a few light marks on the front and back, and as you can see on the backing, some of the pink fabric dye had come through to the backing.
Washed - Yes.
