A delightful quilt, with large 'Southern Belles' hand appliqued
in different coloured cotton full skirts and sun bonnets, in strong
condition.Age - Circa 1930's - 1940's Where from - California. Hand Sewn - The figurines have been hand appliqued. Machine Sewn - Yes. Hand Quilted - Yes. Hand Hemmed - Yes. Materials Used - A strong, but soft, cream cotton with plain
green sashings and aqua blue square blocks. The belles are made up of a
mixture of cotton patches and different coloured embroidery threads. Batting - Medium thickness, cotton batting. Backing Material - Off white cotton, the same as the front. Measurements - Approximately 84 inches by 68 inches. Fraying - No, but a tiny amount of the hand applique sewing has come unstitched, shown in one of the last photos. Holes - No. Stains - There are a couple of very small marks, shown in one of the last photos. Washed - Yes. Notes - It is unknown whether the quilt maker chose not to embroider more details on the hands or whether this is unfinished?
