An unusual shape patchwork
quilt, this is made up of hexagonal
patches, and pieced together in a hexagonal
shape. Dense quilting and lovely fabrics. Needs some TLC, or
use as it is
'shabby chic' style. This looks lovely displayed on the bed, or along the back of a sofa.Age - Circa 1920's - 1930's. Where from - Pennsylvania. Hand Sewn - Yes. Hand Quilted - Yes, as you can see from the photos, there is dense quilting. Hand Hemmed - Yes. Materials Used - Lovely faded pastels with some stronger colours for contrast. Batting - Thin thickness, white cotton flannel sheet. Backing Material - Off white cotton. Measurements - At the widest points, the quilt measures approximately 88 inches by 63 inches. Fraying - Yes Missing Material - Yes, please see photos, there is one row in
particular near the centre which has frayed away showing the white
cotton flannel sheet that was used as batting. This could be replace
with some fabric that has nice memories of your own to add to the
quilt, or used as it is, shabby chic/country style! Loose Seams - Yes, there are some loose seams. Holes - Yes, where the frayed patches are. Holes all the way through - No. Stains - Yes, there are a few marks. Washed - Yes. Notes - A huge amount of time went into hand sewing what must number thousands of small patches together. Tiny neat hand stitching!
