The backing is a lovely 'homespun' style check fabric which contrasts beatifully with the front. Not suitable for everyday use as any tugging of the quilt might damage it, but a great quilt to display on the bed during the day, guest bedroom, or use as a display quilt elsewhere in the house. Lovely feedsack colourful cottons in the patchwork, and the cream cotton backing still has the sugar manufacturers logo still visible. In 'as found condition' - this quilt was stored away for many years and needs finishing off. It has been pieced together, backing added and hemmed, but there are some issues with bunched up batting and unfinished quilting. Ideal project for someone who enjoys quilting. A 'she used what she had quilt' with every little scrap out of her sewing bag put to good use. £85.00 |

It would make a great theatre prop quilt, picnic rug or beach hut throw. The quilt maker was likely a beginner to quilting as the quilt has been crudely machine quilted together in lines with puckering up of fabrics. 'Amish style doll' - that is, one with no embroidered features on the face as the Amish believe it's wrong to make graven images, (they also don't like having photographs taken of their faces for the same reason) children use their imagination instead to pretend the doll is asleep or awake. This doll has a dress made out of a delightful hand worked vintage pillowcase with peacocks and flowers on it. £29.00 |
